How to make dot grid paper
- Pick the dot spacing. 5 mm is the bullet-journal standard. Choose 3 mm for fine work, 1/4 in or 10 mm for bigger layouts, or any custom spacing.
- Set the dot size. Use the slider to make dots from 0.2 mm (barely there) to 1.5 mm (bold). 0.4–0.6 mm suits most printers.
- Choose paper and colour. Pick Letter, A4 or Legal and a dot colour. Grey dots disappear nicely behind ink.
- Download or print. Download the dot grid PDF or print at 100% scale.

Dot grid for bullet journals and planners
Print a stack of 5 mm dotted pages, punch them and keep them in a binder, or print landscape A4 sheets and fold them in half for A5 pages. Need straight lines instead? Use lined paper or graph paper. For three-dimensional sketches, try the iso dots option on isometric paper.
Frequently asked questions
What is dot grid paper used for?
Dot grid (dotted) paper is popular for bullet journals, planners, hand lettering, sketching, UI wireframes and notes. The dots guide lines and spacing without the visual noise of a full grid.
What is the standard dot grid spacing?
5 mm between dots is the standard used by most dotted notebooks and bullet journals. Larger spacing such as 1/4 inch or 10 mm is easier for children or big lettering.
How big should the dots be?
Dots of about 0.4 to 0.6 mm are visible but quiet. Choose smaller dots for a subtle page, or larger ones if your printer prints faintly.
Can I print dot grid paper on A4 and Letter?
Yes. Choose A4, US Letter or US Legal in portrait or landscape. The dot grid is centred on the page with equal margins.
Is the dotted paper free to print?
Yes. You can download and print as many dot grid pages as you want for free.
